Who was Abraham Lincoln? • Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Illinois. • Abraham Lincoln was our 16th President of the U.S. • He was an amazing writer who wrote political and nonpolitical things like “poetry, satire, and scientific meditations”. • He was also the man who abolished slavery.

Lincoln’s Family  • Father: Thomas Lincoln - farmer and carpenter. • Mother: Nancy Hanks – Died When Lincoln was nine. • Stepmother: Sarah Bush Johnson • Siblings: Sarah Grigsby was the only sibling to live to maturity. • Wife: Mary Todd – grew up in relative wealth. • Children: Robert, Eddie, and Willie and Tad.

  4. Abraham Lincoln’s Presidency • His party was Republican and he was president for four years from 1861-1865. • His vice presidents were Hannibal Hamlin and Andrew Johnson. • He was preceded by James Buchanan and succeeded by Andrew Johnson

Different POVs on Abraham LincolnFreeing the Slaves • Most of the North didn’t protest about the slaves being freed by Lincoln. • Although, people didn’t like the fact that the slaves might come over and take their jobs. • The South, on the other hand, didn’t like that their slaves were being freed because that was what their lives were all about.

  6. Accomplishments Of Abraham Lincoln • Addressed the “House Divided” Speech • Made the Emancipation Proclamation that abolished slavery. • Delivered the Gettysburg Address

  7. The Death and Murderer of Abraham Lincoln • Abraham Lincoln died April 15,1865 because he was assassinated at a theater by a man named John Wilkes Booth.

  8. Fun Facts About Abraham Lincoln^_^ • Lincoln was the tallest U.S. President at 6ft 4 inches • He was the 1st president to have a beard. ^_^ • Lincoln liked pets. He owned: horses, cats, dogs and a turkey!! (gobble gobble) • Before his death, Lincoln had a premonition in a dream that he was going to die. Someone was In a coffin and he saw that it was his face. (creepy o_o”) • He’s on the PENNY!!! (look shiny!! ^_^)   

  9. Lincoln’s Sad facts  • Lincoln was the 1st President ever to get assassinated. • He had suffered from deep depression even though he would crack jokes and tell stories. • His birth mother died from milk sickness.
