Identifying the Need • Engagement in patient safety at the front line of care identified as a priority • Primary focus given to nurse-specific indicators as they relate to patient safety • HAI’s, HAC’s, Never Events, etc. • Engaged Shared Governance councils in owning nursing practice to heighten patient safety

  3. Initiatives • K.O.P.S. – Keeping Our Patients Safe • Blow the Whistle Campaign • Full engagement in the GHA HEN initiative • Poster contest during nurse week • Must focus on patient safety • Must be evidence-based • Must involve frontline nursing staff • Must exemplify ownership of nursing practice
