  2. Objectives • To build richvocabularythatthestudent is able to use appropriately in speakingandwriting; • To developstrongstudyhabits; • To help us understandthetextswe are reading; • To develophabitsoflife-longlearners.

  3. TheAssignment • Theassignement is to collectunfamiliarwordsthatyou come acrossduringreadingordiscussions, write them down, and discover the meaning of those words; • For example, as you are reading a novel youmay come across a newword. Followthisprocess: circle it, look it up, write it down in yourjournalalongwiththemeaningandpartof speech.

  4. DuringtheSemester • I willcheckyourglossary 3 times duringthesemester (to makesureyou are workingon it) • June 05 is thedaythatyoumustturn in the final copyofyourglossary

  5. Entries • Alphabeticalorder • Word, partof speech, definition (in English, ofcourse) • Shouldbepresented in thefollowingformat: apple (noun): a pieceoffruitthat is redorgreen, growsontrees, and is used for eatingandbaking.

  6. Final Copy • The Final Copy is dueonFriday, June 5, 2009 bymidnight (send it to my email) • It shouldbetyped, in alphabeticalorderand in theappropriateformat; • Yourglossaryshouldhaveatleast 100 words; • Thethreechecksand final copy are partofyourprocedure grade

  7. Don’tGetRidof It! • Attheendofthesemester, don’tgetridof it! Don’tthrow it in thetrash! • Keepthisglossary as a tool to use in the future. • Wewilladd to it nextyear
