  1. Debrief Case Study Setting

  2. Motivation • Validate and Refine • The theoretical comprehension process model • Extend the comprehension model to support a component substitution process • More specifically • Populate the Ontology and Refine the Ontology Design • Identify process supporting queries. • Collect Historical data and perform data miningon the collected data

  3. Major Phases of the Case Study • Familiarize yourself with Debrief • Read paper related to Debrief • Tutorial • FAQ • => At this point you are not yet looking at any implementation details/ source code • Duration: Max. 4 hours.

  4. Major Phases of the Case Study 2. Comprehension phase • A particular comprehension task will be the distributed (the same for all participants) – see also Phase 3 • Every participants will have a set of tools assigned => will vary between participants. • The comprehension process will suggest a set of tools that are applicable at the current stage (required resources for the tools are available) • Keep track of the features used in the tool and provide feedback => will be used to enrich the ontology and improve the queries. • Feedback forms will be returned to Wen Jun (EV 8-150) • User will determine if the current understanding is sufficient to continue with the next phase. If not, a new query will be generated with an updated list of tools • Duration: Max. 20 hours (=> keep a log of your activities and their duration)

  5. Major Phases of the Case Study • Perform the modification – component substitution • A component will be provided that has to be integrated to replace an existing component/part of the Debrief system. • A set of tools specifically suitable for the substitution will be suggested (e.g. debugger, etc) • User might have to go back to the comprehension tools to gain additional understanding • Duration: Maximum 20 hours (=> keep a log of your activities and their duration)

  6. Major Phases of the Case Study 4. Validation and Verification • Ensure that the modification performed was performed correctly. Test cases will be provided. • Duration 4 hours (=> keep a log of your activities and their duration) • Integration • Duration 1 hour (=> keep a log of your activities and their duration)
