  1. High Speed USB ChannelCharacterization Presentation Presenters: Peter Shacour MajdHafi Instructor: Amit Berman

  2. Introduction • What is USB ?Universal Serial BUS is a standard for multiple tasks which can be concluded by two words: Data Transfers • Why USB? • The most important reasons (among others): • 1. The same connector type for different devices • 2. Speed • 3. Chaining

  3. Motivation • USB 2.0 supports both L.S and F.S of the USB 1.1 adding to it the High Speed of 480 Mbps • USB 2.0 never reaches the speed it claims to posses

  4. Project’s goal • To maximize the USB channel Performance

  5. USB Channel

  6. Components • Samsung 2GB NAND Flash Memory • TSOP 48 Adapter • FPGA Device Stratix III DE3 Board

  7. Block Diagram

  8. Samsung 2GB NAND Flash Memory • A Reliable non-volatile memory devise • Based on the “Floating gate” transistors • Great performance

  9. Future Steps • Until now we have mostly done a lot of research • Nowadays we are studying the manuals of the FPGA and the Nios II processor programming • The next step will be setting the architecture and design
