ALPS Client/Server Design • Two parts: • gridDataServer.tcl – striped-down version of the main D2D interface that handles data request and delivery from database where the full data set resides • remoteGridClient – Sends request for data to the host server machine and receives process requests via the Wide Area Network. • Third part (not implemented yet): • Routine (via cron) push/pull of grids over the WAN for gridded forecast preparation

  3. NWS AWIPS-II Plans • AWIPS II “Enhancement” - Smart Push/Smart Pull • Initial operational capability ~ Jan 2011 • Full operational capability ~ 2012

  4. GFE Domains • Important enhancement - Match model domain to WFO and RFC(?) domains

  5. Expanded MADIS Data Collection and Feeds • RAS data displays • X-Band or other gap – filling radars • Others?
