ID Network: Background • In 2009, NSW health sought GMCT representation on Advisory Group that was developing State-wide Service Framework • Mid 2009 representatives of Association of Doctors in Developmental Disability (ADIDD) approached GMCT • Mid 2010, representatives of ADIDD and NSW Health met with the ACI • NSW Health funded a 0.5 FTE Network Manager in the 2010 budget. • MOU signed between the ACI and NSW Health early 2011

ID Network: Aim To provide a coordinated state-wide approach in clinical leadership through a network in which clinicians, relevant government and non government groups and consumers determine together the future directions for health care for people with intellectual disabilities across the life span throughout NSW.

  5. Current status and plan for next 6 months • Steering group evolves to Executive Committee • Proposed to meet every six weeks for six months • Co-chairs elected form Steering Committee – medical and other • Working groups formed a necessary

  6. Specific priorities • Provide a coordinated state-wide collaborative approach in clinical leadership to improve health care across the life span with a particular focus on those with chronic health needs and mental health co-morbidities • Develop specific initiatives to implement change such as standardised treatment protocols, models of care and service benchmarks • Improve education, workforce capacity, safety and quality of service provision supported by evidence through liaison with the ACI partners and other relevant organisations.
