  1. Anne Boleyn Born 1501 – Died 1536

  2. She had 1 brother and 1 sister. • She was the 2nd wife of Henry the VIII of England. • She was the daughter of Thomas Boleyn and his wife Lady Elizabeth Howard. • She was educated in the Nederland's and France.

  3. In early 1523 there was a secret betrothal between Anne and Henry Percy, son of the 5th Earl of Northumberland. • In 1524 Cardinal Thomas Wolsey broke the betrothal and Anne was sent home to Hever Castle. • Anne married Henry VIII on 25th January 1533. • This marriage resulted in Henry being excommunicated by the pope, which means being thrown out of the Catholic Church. Henry took over the Church in England instead.

Anne was crowned Queen Consort on 1st June 1533 • Anne and Henry had a baby daughter called Elizabeth – they were both disappointed because they wanted a son • By March 1536 Henry was courting Jane Seymour so wanted to get rid of his wife • In April he had Anne investigated for high treason, which means being disloyal to the state

  5. Anne was arrested and sent to the Tower of London

  6. Anne Boleyn • She was tried before a jury of peers including her former betrothed, Henry Percy and her own uncle, Thomas Howard • On the 15th May Anne was found guilty and was beheaded 4 days later
