Professional Development Institute 2009 Discoverer Plus • Oracle’s report writing tool that provides access to data in the Operational Data Store. • Intuitive, ad-hoc, query tool • Report creation and sharing • Reports with charts and graphs • Data analysis with drill-down capabilities • Report scheduling and export capabilities • Web based (no software needs to be installed)

Professional Development Institute 2009 Operational Data Store (ODS) • The ODS is a database that stores data in a central location for reporting and allows for integration of data from different systems. • The data in the ODS is refreshed nightly. Professional Development Institute 2009 Discoverer Plus Terminology • End User Layer (EUL) • The EUL provides authentication and connectivity between Discoverer Plus and the ODS. • Business Area (BA) • BA’s are a collection of ODS data stored in views and they are assigned to a specific EUL. • Workbooks • Workbooks are Discoverer Plus files that contain worksheets displaying data retrieved from the ODS. • Worksheet • Worksheets contain the data that you want to analyze.
