Conclusion • Improved the performance of the industrial multicomponent distillation column by upgrading OF temperature control • The upgrade includes: • retuning the existing control loop and realizing it in IMC form with anti-windup protection • adding a nearly-linear single-load dynamic temperature set-point compensator which amounts to a PI loop • accompanying the design with conventional-like tuning guidelines underlain by a robust stability criterion drawn from advanced control theory • enabling a gradual transition from the old to the new control scheme.
