PURPOSE OF SD PROVISION OF OUT-OF – CLASSROOM STUDENT DEVELOPMENT INTERVENTIONS • Support to SRC and student governance to strengthen students’ role in co-operative governance • Support to student-led structures: PGSA, undergraduate and postgraduate faculty councils, societies, day house committee(s), development agencies and sports clubs • Capacity- building and leadership development to student structures, and orientation leaders. • Advocacy, orientation and co-ordinated mentorship to all students • Global Citizenship competencies: transferable skills, values, behaviours, attitudes

Student Development Service Delivery Model • Student Development thread through all divisions • Relationship compact with students, supported by ED and DVC • Good Governance promotion and service delivery : accountability and transparency • Partnerships and collaborations: students all DSA clusters, CHED, faculty, student structures, CMD, DAD, IAPO, Transformation Office, DISCHO, HAICU, external to UCT • Policy and procedure development • Improved turn – around time • Management Information Systems • Monitoring and Evaluation Systems for all interventions • Financial planning and forecasting • Quality Assurance and Benchmarking

SD Offerings • Student Governance and Leadership • Elections, Induction, capacity building for SRC, Student Assembly, Faculty Councils, class representatives, PGSA • Generic Leadership Development Programmes • Student Life and Development • Support to Day House and integration of day students • Co-ordination of community engagement/ SRI • Societies capacity building • Development Agencies: Radio, Varsity, RAG, SHAWCO • Sports and Recreation • Competitive, intramural, social sports (Sports for All) • Facilities and Operations management • Student Orientation and Advocacy • Orientation : Undergraduate and Postgraduate • Coaching and Mentorship • Student Advice service
