  5. Slide 4 Communication for Technicians Unit: 16 KEY SKILLS • Communication Key Skills Level 3 A separate assignment will be used to assess C3.1a. •  C3.1a - Contribute to a group discussion about a complex subject. •  Assignment 2 will also be used to assess C3.1b, C3.2. •  C3.1b - Make a presentation about a complex subject, using at least one image to illustrate a complex point. •  C3.2 - Read and synthesise information from two extended documents about a complex subject one of these documents should include at least one image. NEXT Hand Out 1 Prepare by: G.A.Smillie Date: < 31/08/2014 >

  6. Slide 5 Communication for Technicians Unit: 16 KEY SKILLS •  Communication Key Skills Level 3 • Assignment 2 will be used to assess for C3.3. •  This will produce one extended document. • Assignment 3 will be used to assess for C3.3. •  This will produce a second extended document  C3.3 - Write two types of documents about a complex subject. One piece of writing should be an extended document and should include at least one image. NEXT Hand Out 1 Prepare by: G.A.Smillie Date: < 31/08/2014 >

  7. Slide 6 Communication for Technicians Unit: 16 THE SIX PASS CRITERIA P1  Interpret simple engineering drawings and sketches. P2  Produce simple engineering drawings/diagrams and sketches. P3  Identify and use appropriate standards, symbols, and conventions in the production of engineering drawings. P4  Communicate information effectively in written work and through verbal methods. P5  Identify and use appropriate information sources to solve simple engineering tasks. P6  select and use appropriate information and communication technology to present information. NEXT Hand Out 1 Prepare by: G.A.Smillie Date: < 31/08/2014 >

  8. Slide 7 Communication for Technicians Unit: 16 THREE MERIT CRITERIA M1  Evaluate the communication methods used and identify alternative approaches. M2  Analyse the data obtained from a range of sources and validate choice. M3  Present written information concisely and coherently to standards used in industry. NEXT Hand Out 1 Prepare by: G.A.Smillie Date: < 31/08/2014 >

  9. Slide 8 Communication for Technicians Unit: 16 TWO DISTINCTION CRITERIA D1  Justify their choice of communication methods and the reasons for not using possible alternatives. D2  Critically evaluate their use of information and communication technology and identify alternative approaches. NEXT Hand Out 1 Prepare by: G.A.Smillie Date: < 31/08/2014 >
