  4. The diction used is abstract, descriptive and technical. Words such as “travel”, “come back” and “Two roads illustrate the narrators personal journey describes through the poem. In using “I” the reader can see that the poem is in first person. The word “road” and “Two” used is not literal but describes the different options life has. Diction

The first one introduces that there are two paths to choose from, the second and third describe the different roads and the fourth illustrates the path chosen which is “less traveled by” one can infer that it is the more difficult one.   10. The diction used in this poem is negative, positive, and abstract. The poet uses words such as “Fire”, “hate” and “Ice”, “desire” to imply differences between good and evil. Frost makes the reader think in using opposites and their meanings. Diction

  12. The details in this poem implying the relationship between love and hate (Fire and Ice.) The narrator chooses love over hate. Love can be more powerful and can last longer than hate can. The narrator also implies that he would also favor hate implying that there is a equal amount in the world. Details

  13. The overall use of language is figurative in comparing “Fire and “Ice”. The language is simple but has a clear meaning. The poet uses juxtaposition in choose two opposite objects “Fire” and “Ice”. The whole poem could be considered as symbolism between love and hate.   17. The diction used in this poem is figurative, simple, positive, negative and descriptive. The author is depicting the relationship between a parent and her child. The child doesn’t not bond with the parent and expressed her feelings with writing. • “My Daughter is writing a story” • “stairwell, hearing” • “great cargo” • “reject my thought” • “clearing the sill of the world” • “Of life or death” Diction

The images depicted are lonely, sad and detailed. “Lucky passage”, “house seems to be thinking”, “try it again” and “I wish” illustrate the journey the daughter and parent are taking.   19. There is a daughter in the house typing all the time. The narrator then goes on to compare the daughter to a starling that was stuck in the same room she was. It is figurative language to the lifestyle the daughter is living.   20. The overall use of language in this poem is literal, figurative, and clear. The impression left is the teenager/parent relationship. Teenagers are constantly doing things which they shouldn’t and parents get mad. The relationship is not connected and expressed which makes up all the writing the daughter does. “I”, “Young she is”, “bunched clamor” and “darling” conveys the parent’s view and love towards their daughter. The story of the “dazed starling” expressed the parents feeling of her child filled with failures and enclosed. Language

  21. The sentence structure used in this poem is describing the daughters life to the story of the starling then goes to the parent’s wishes of her daughters life. There is no rhyming scheme. Reid uses long and short sentences, and short stanzas to point out what the emphasize is. It depicts the poets longing of a connection.
