  1. Dr. Vikram Neurologist Migraine Headache Migraine is a serious headache that usually lasts for hours or days. Striking or pulsing pain usually begins in the forehead, head, or around the eyes. Any movement, activity, bright light or loud noise will make you more distressed. Nausea and vomiting are common during migraine. Migraines can only occur once or twice a year or daily. Women are more likely to have migraines than men. Different types of migraine headaches. The most common types of migraines are classic migraines and general migraines.

  2. Dr. Vikram Neurologist Classic Migraine: They start with a warning sign called aura. These types of migraines are also sometimes called “migraines with aura". Brightness often involves changes in the way you look. You can see flashing lights, colors, patterns or shadows. You may lose your focus temporarily, like your side vision. you may also experience a strange prickly or burning sensation, or muscle weakness on one side of your body. You may have trouble communicating. You can also feel frustrated, irritable and fickle. Aura Ross lasts 15 to 30 minutes. Auras may occur before or after your head pain. Sometimes pain and brightness overlap, or pain never happens. The headaches of classic migraines can occur on one or both sides of your head. Common Migraine: Don’t start with the aura. For this reason, these types of migraines are also called " migraines without aura". Normal migraines start off slower than classic migraines, last longer, and interrupt daily activities. The common migraines pain may only be on one side of your head. Most people with migraines have normal migraines.

  3. Dr. Vikram Neurologist Symptoms of Migraine: Possible symptoms of migraines include: Intense throbbing or dull aching pain on one side of your head or both sides. Pain that worsens with physical activity. Nausea or vomiting. Changes in how you see, including blurred vision or blind spots. Being bothered by light, noise, or odors. Feeling tired and/or confused. Stopped-up nose. Feeling cold or sweaty. Stiff or tender neck. Lightheadedness. Tender scalp. What causes Migraine? Doctors are not sure what caused the migraine. Migraine headaches may be caused by changes in the chemical levels of serotonin. Serotonin plays many roles in the body and it can affect blood vessels. When serotonin levels are high, blood vessels contract When serotonin levels fall, the blood vessels break down (swell). This can cause swelling or other problems. Migraine headaches are another topic that is being studied, along with the spreading pattern of electrical activity in the brain. Some research suggests that migraines may be hereditary, meaning they run in families. Researchers have identified some genes associated with migraines. They have no idea why these genes affect some people more than others. The American Migraine Foundation reports

  4. Dr. Vikram Neurologist that if one of your parents has migraines, you also have a 50% chance If both parents have migraines, your chances are increased by 75%. Ultimately, migraines are caused by a combination of factors: genetic, environmental, and lifestyle. Women are more likely to have chronic migraines (migraines occurring 15 days or more per month). It is linked to hormones. Hormones fluctuate every month during your period. They can also fluctuate if you are pregnant or going through menopause.
