  17. Your S.H.A.P.E.  I.         Foundation for Ministry            A.       God saved us, not only to bring us in right relationship with Him, but also, to use us in mighty ways. (Eph. 2:8-10)            B.       God gives spiritual gift(s) to each believer. (1 Cor. 12:7)            C.       God is the one who places members in the church. (1 Cor. 12:18)            D.       God places each believer in the body of Christ for ministry.  (Eph. 4:12)            E.       Every believer can fulfill his or her ministry with the power of the Holy Spirit. (Phil. 4:13)

II.        Spiritual Gifts      A.       Facts about Spiritual Gifts.         1.     They are important and essential for the health of the body of Christ.         2.     The Holy Spirit is the source of these gifts.         3.     The gifts are not natural abilities.         4.     There is no hierarchy in the importance of gifts, though there can be a hierarchy in function.          5.     The gifts, when rightly exercised in the Spirit, have the promise of divine power.

Spiritual Gifts, cont. 6.     When the gifts are used, the body profits.  When they are not, the body suffers. 7.     The gifts of the Spirit are distinct from the fruit of the Spirit. 8.     You can have a gift and not be using it. 9.     Spiritual gifts often come in combinations. 10.     You do not lose your spiritual gifts as you grow older.

What abilities do you use on a daily basis with your job? E. What abilities do you use in regards to your hobbies or how you spend your free time?

  24. Your S.H.A.P.E. V. Personality A. Please take the personality test. B. Realize that God has graciously given us different personalities to help us complementone another. Rather than use our differences as points of division, let us use them to strengthen each other. C. How can God use my personality to “workout” the specific ministry that He wants me to complete?

  25. Your S.H.A.P.E. VI. Experiences A. God has allowed every individual to go through different experiences in his/her life for a purpose. Our whole life journey with Christ is a continual growing experience as God molds us into disciples to be used for His glory. B. Spiritualexperiences begin with the event that led to the time that you cameto Christ. As God has continued to work in your life since your conversion, what have you learned? What are some specific experiences you have had where you can truly say that you “experienced God?” What are spiritual markers in your life?

Painful experiences deal with those times in your life where you went through difficult and painfultimes...the loss of a loved one…the loss of a job...dealing with personal illness, etc. What has God taught you through those times? Can you see where God was working in your life during those times? God often allows you to go through painful times so that you might be able to helpothers who are dealing with difficult trials and tribulations. D. Education experiences deal with what type of training and schooling you have had. What are your areas of specialization? What are some things that you are knowledgeable about? Do you enjoy teaching others the things you know?

What ministries have you served in that you do not feel you were particularly called to? What ministries do you feel that you do well? What has God taught you through serving Him?
