Teaming Experience • Specialist Responsibilities – Writing Extra Value Standards, Planning Magnet Focus Nights, Co-teaching with other teachers • Exploratory Unit – Digital Media • Service Learning Project – Financial Fair • Grant Writing to fund Day Trip to Chicago • New NAF (National Academy Foundation) Class • NBPTS (National Board for Professional Teaching Standards) Certification

  4. Team Teaching • When 2 or more teachers work together to plan, execute and reflect on a lesson to the same group of students at the same time. (Please do not confuse what we consider above with other types of educational teaming) • 77% of middle schools in the U.S. now use some form of team teaching according to John Lounsbury, publications editor for the National Middle School Association. • “ When team teaching is fully implemented, research has shown it leads to an "improved work climate, more frequent contact with parents, increased teacher job satisfaction, and higher levels of student achievement.“ REFERENCE: Taken from Education World at www.educationworld.com/a_admin/admin/admin290.shtml

T.A.P Teacher Attitude & Personality (This is the individuality aspect of teaming) *Before approaching any teaming situation all teachers need to assess their own attitudes, beliefs and personalities. 1. Ask yourself first if you even want to team teach. No one should be put in this situation unwillingly. 2. Take a personality assessment (see online suggestions in folders)

T.A.N.G.OTime and Needs Guide Opportunities • You must be able to choose your partner, or have the time (at least a semester) for preparation to work together. • You must understand and appreciate, not necessarily agree with, your partners’ teaching style and philosophy of education. • Creating roles (If you have team taught before sometimes these are easily taken on instead of assigned)
