CAHSEE Requirement • All students must satisfy the CAHSEE requirement, as well as all other state and local requirements to receive a California public high school diploma. • The CAHSEE requirement can be satisfied by passing the exam or, for students with disabilities, receiving a local waiver. Education Code Section 60851(c).

  4. Upcoming2008-09 Test Dates • December 6 & 13, 2008 (Saturdays) • December 8-12, 2008 (ELA writing prompt field test) • February 3-4, 2009 • March 17-18, 2009 • May 12-13, 2009 • Testing calendars and guidelines can be found at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/hs/admin.asp

CAHSEE Review Panels Bias and Sensitivity Review panelists look for: • Language or graphics that may create a negative emotional response that interferes with a test taker’s ability to perform • Language or content that may not be accessible to some populations (idiomatic language is an example)

  6. CAHSEE Review Panels (continued) ELA and Math Content Review panelists check items for: • Grade-level appropriateness • Alignment to standards • Validity of test items • Depth of Knowledge (DOK)

Program Resources Program Resources Web page: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/hs/resources.asp. • Study guides, teacher guides, and released test questions are newly revised. • Study guides will not be produced or distributed to schools in the 2008-09 school year; districts may download and photocopy as needed. • Resource page also includes CAHSEE blueprints; school, district, and county assistance packets; and technical reports.

Intensive Instruction Funds Update • Provides funding for intensive instruction and services for students who have taken but not passed one or both parts of the exam • Scheduled to be distributed early December 2008 • For 2008-09, districts were awarded $520 for each eligible grade twelve student and $142.71 for each eligible grade eleven student
