The Cell Cycle

By: Jordyn Hires

Interphase

Interphase

  • Cell starts to grow to mature size.

  • The DNA replicates. (exact copy)

  • The cell prepares to divide.

Mitosis

Mitosis

  • There are 4 stages of mitosis.

  • Those 4 stages are: prophase, metaphase, anaphase and, telophase.

Prophase

Prophase

  • Nuclear membrane and nucleolus disappear.

  • Spindle fibers appear. (ropes)

  • See duplicated chromosomes.

Metaphase

Metaphase

  • The duplicated chromosomes move to the middle.

  • There are sister chromatids on either side.

Anaphase

Anaphase

  • Sister chromatids separate and move to opposite sides.

Telophase

Telophase

  • The nuclear membrane and nucleolus reappear.

  • The chromosomes loosen up and become chromatin.

Cytokinesis

Cytokinesis

  • Cytokinesis is the division of the cytoplasm.

  • Cytokinesis is always moving to the next stage.
