  1. “ So they are completely United.”

  2. Main Passage. John 17:11-26 GW (11) I won't be in the world much longer, but they are in the world, and I'm coming back to you. Holy Father, keep them safe by the power of your name, the name that you gave me, so that their unity may be like ours. (12) While I was with them, I kept them safe by the power of your name, the name that you gave me. I watched over them, and none of them, except one person, became lost. So Scripture came true. (13) "But now, Father, I'm coming back to you. I say these things while I'm still in the world so that they will have the same joy that I have. (14) I have given them your message. But the world has hated them because they don't belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. (15) I'm not asking you to take them out of the world but to protect them from the evil one. (16) They don't belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. (17) "Use the truth to make them holy. Your words are truth. (18) I have sent them into the world the same way you sent me into the world. (19) I'm dedicating myself to this holy work I'm doing for them so that they, too, will use the truth to be holy. (20) "I'm not praying only for them. I'm also praying for those who will believe in me through their message. (21) I pray that all of these people continue to have unity in the way that you, Father, are in me and I am in you. I pray that they may be united with us so that the world will believe that you have sent me. (22) I have given them the glory that you gave me. I did this so that they are united in the same way we are. (23) I am in them, and you are in me. So they are completely united. In this way the world knows that you have sent me and that you have loved them in the same way you have loved me. (24) "Father, I want those you have given to me to be with me, to be where I am. I want them to see my glory, which you gave me because you loved me before the world was made. (25) Righteous Father, the world didn't know you. Yet, I knew you, and these disciples have known that you sent me. (26) I have made your name known to them, and I will make it known so that the love you have for me will be in them and I will be in them."

  3. Satan Vs. The unity of the Church

  4. Definition of Unity. • Unity ‘s Definition (n.) The peculiar characteristics of an estate held by several in joint tenancy (n.) The state of being one; oneness.(n.) Concord; harmony; conjunction; agreement; uniformity; as, a unity of proofs; unity of doctrine.(n.) Such a combination of parts as to constitute a whole, or a kind of symmetry of style and character.

  5. Unity Is • Oneness of heart and thought. • Oneness in joy and sadness. • Oneness in celebration and in burden. • Oneness through sharing of resources and life. • Oneness in relationship with Him. • Oneness in reflection to the Godhead.

  6. Unity is not • Tolerance without acceptance • A loss of individuality. • An all exclusive Club. • One group having control over another. • Silence in thought or ideas. • A time for leaders to manipulate the Body of Christ and bring control

  7. Jesus walked in Unity with the Father and Spirit . • John 5:30 I can't do anything on my own. As I listen to the Father, I make my judgments. My judgments are right because I don't try to do what I want but what the one who sent me wants.

  8. Definition of World "World" in Greek is "kosmos" (kosmos). This is a very inclusive word. It includes time and space with everything that exists in them, both living and material Although this word is a noun, the ending "mos" denotes action. This implies that the "kosmos" includes the content of all of the diverse and multifarious actions taking place under the government of God. The "kosmos" includes all of humanity, the entire fallen creation, all the settings in history, and all the events on earth as the environment for the producing of God’s salvation The "kosmos" also includes Satan and the satanic kingdom with its system

  9. The Path to Unity • (John 17:11 GW) I won't be in the world much longer, but they are in the world, and I'm coming back to you. Holy Father, keep them safe by the power of your name, the name that you gave me, so that their unity may be like ours. • Jesus knew he was about to leave the planet and sit on the right hand side of the Father. • He prayed for our safety to be maintained through the power of His name. • Through this keeping of safety in His name comes the Unity like the unity of the Godhead. • That Unity was prayed for by the Son and revealed by the Spirit.

  10. The Path to Unity 1 Corinthians 12:11-13 GW (11) There is only one Spirit who does all these things by giving what God wants to give to each person. (12) For example, the body is one unit and yet has many parts. As all the parts form one body, so it is with Christ. (13) By one Spirit we were all baptized into one body. Whether we are Jewish or Greek, slave or free, God gave all of us one Spirit to drink.

  11. The Path to Unity • (John 17:12 GW) While I was with them, I kept them safe by the power of your name, the name that you gave me. I watched over them, and none of them, except one person, became lost. So Scripture came true. • Jesus refers once again about protecting the disciples through the name of the Lord. This is for us as well. • He kept them safe and keeps us safe. ( means to guard, place a fortress around, to give full military lines • To watch over means to keep guard over. • When true unity occurs there will be causalities at times. ( Judas) Psalm 41:9 (KJV) Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

  12. The Path to Unity John 17:13-15 GW (13) "But now, Father, I'm coming back to you. I say these things while I'm still in the world so that they will have the same joy that I have. (14) I have given them your message. But the world has hated them because they don't belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. (15) I'm not asking you to take them out of the world but to protect them from the evil one. • Jesus deposited a part of Himself into the disciples so that the Unity would remain. • Jesus had to go back to the Father in order for the Spirit of unity to be released within us. • The Message has been released within us. ( The Word is Logos which means the living Word.) • Jesus knew that our biggest enemy would not be people but the devil and his demons working through people. • Only through Unity can we survive. Only through being one in Him and with each other can we overcome.

  13. The Path to Unity John 17:17-19 GW (17) "Use the truth to make them holy. Your words are truth. (18) I have sent them into the world the same way you sent me into the world. • I'm dedicating myself to this holy work I'm doing for them so that they, too, will use the truth to be holy. • Unity comes when each person is pursuing holiness and righteousness in their lives. • Greek word for Sanctify or make holy is hagiazo which means to separate from profane to sacred use. • As we walk more in Unity our impact becomes evident upon the world. Jesus walked in Unity with the Father and Spirit and changed the whole world. He is still talked about today. • Unity comes through dedication and commitment. Jesus gave himself for us so they we would do the same for each other.

  14. The Path to Unity John 17:20-23 GW (20) "I'm not praying only for them. • Jesus prophetically prayed for you and I. We are the believers of the message. We are the product of Christians past who have given their life for the message. • He prayed for our Unity to still be in tact. • Unity is for the world to see the greatness of our God. • He compares our Unity with His and the Father’s. • He prayed for the same DOXA or Glory to be upon us as it is on Him.

  15. Definition of Glory • Glory Meaning and Definition • (n.) An emanation of light supposed to proceed from beings of peculiar sanctity. It is represented in art by rays of gold, or the like, proceeding from the head or body, or by a disk, or a mere line. • (n.) The presence of the Divine Being; the manifestations of the divine nature and favor to the blessed in heaven; celestial honor; heaven. • (n.) Praise, honor, admiration, or distinction, accorded by common consent to a person or thing; high reputation; honorable fame; renown. • (n.) 16. The Path to Unity • John 17:24-26 GW • (24) "Father, I want those you have given to me to be with me, to be where I am. I want them to see my glory, which you gave me because you loved me before the world was made. • (25) Righteous Father, the world didn't know you. Yet, I knew you, and these disciples have known that you sent me. • (26) I have made your name known to them, and I will make it known so that the love you have for me will be in them and I will be in them." • He prayed that our Unity draws each participate closer to the Living God. • The Kosmos will know the Lord through our Unity and our expression of the Unity. • True Unity produces the Love of God which passes all understanding. His love is supernatural and so must ours be.

  17. So They Are completely United • Our unity must be found in Him. • We are Solar Dishes of God’s Unity to the World. • We are conduits of His love as we walk in Unity with each other. • We have one voice and one Doctrine for all of mankind. • We have one purpose. • We are one Family in Him. Family morphs into something larger than life.

  18. So They are completely United Ephesians 3:14-16 GW (14) This is the reason I kneel in the presence of the Father (15) from whom all the family in heaven and on earth receives its name. • I'm asking God to give you a gift from the wealth of his glory. I pray that he would give you inner strength and power through his Spirit. Family ( Patria) which means a group of families or a whole race or nation. Your individual family becomes a part of a larger family. We are the Nation of Christ. We are the NATION OF GOD.

  19. Building Together “ We are called to build His kingdom together”

  20. Building Together • We must be opened to understanding the importance of the Kingdom building. • Mar 1:15 He said, "The time has come, and the kingdom of God is near. Change the way you think and act, and believe the Good News."

  21. Nehemiah’s Passion to Build • If we are going to build God’s kingdom in this city, we must have a burden for it. • a. Nehemiah 1:1 These are the words of Nehemiah, son of Hacaliah: During the month of Chislev, in Artaxerxes' twentieth year as king, while I was in the fortress at Susa, • Nehemiah 1:2 one of my brothers, Hanani, arrived with some men from Judah. I asked them about the Jews who had survived captivity and about Jerusalem. • Nehemiah 1:3 They told me, "Those who survived captivity are in the province. They are enduring serious troubles and being insulted. The wall of Jerusalem has been broken down, and its gates have been destroyed by fire." • Nehemiah 1:4 When I heard this, I sat down and cried. I mourned for days. I continued to fast and pray to the God of heaven.

  22. Nehemiah’s Passion to Build • We must be willing to step and believe for the impossible. a. Nehemiah 2:4 "What do you want?" the king asked me. So I prayed to the God of heaven, Nehemiah 2:5 and I asked the king, "If it pleases Your Majesty, and you are willing to grant my request, let me go to Judah, to the city where my ancestors are buried, so that I can rebuild it." Nehemiah 2:6 Then, while the queen was sitting beside him, the king asked me, "How long will you be gone, and when will you come back?" When I gave him a specific date, he was willing to let me go.

  23. Nehemiah’s Passion to Build 3 . We must be willing to share the passion with others. a. Nehemiah 2:17 Then I told them, "You see the trouble we're in. Jerusalem is in ruins, and its gates are burned down. Let's rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be insulted." Nehemiah 2:18 Then I told them that my God had been guiding me and what the king had told me. They replied, "Let's begin to rebuild." So they encouraged one another to begin this God-pleasing work.

  24. Nehemiah’s Passion to Build 4. We must take responsibility for our own areas. a. Nehemiah 3:1-32

  25. Nehemiah’s Passion to Build 5. We must be willing to face adversity. • a. Nehemiah 4:1 When Sanballat heard we were rebuilding the wall, he became enraged and made fun of the Jews. • Nehemiah 4:2 In front of his allies and the army from Samaria, he said, "What do these miserable Jews think they're doing? Can they rebuild it by themselves? Are they going to offer sacrifices? Can they finish it in a day? Will they get the stones out of the rubbish heaps, burned as these stones are, and give them new strength?" • Nehemiah 4:3 Tobiah the Ammonite, who was beside Sanballat, said, "Even a fox would make their stone wall collapse if it walked on top of what they're building!" • Nehemiah 4:4 Nehemiah prayed, "Our God, hear us. We are despised. Turn their insults back on them, and let them be robbed in the land where they are prisoners. • Nehemiah 4:5 Don't ignore their guilt, and don't let their sins disappear from your records. They have insulted you in front of these builders." • Nehemiah 4:6 So we rebuilt the wall, which was rebuilt to about half its original height. The people worked with determination.

  26. Nehemiah’s Passion to Build 6. Everybody must get into their place and fulfill their call. • a. Nehemiah 7:1 The gatekeepers, the singers, and the Levites were assigned their duties after the wall had been rebuilt and I had hung the doors. • Nehemiah 7:2 I put my brother Hanani and Hananiah, the commander of the fortress, in charge of Jerusalem. Hananiah was a trustworthy man, and he feared God more than most people do.

  27. Nehemiah’s Passion to Build • Be ready to receive those that will come. • a. Nehemiah 11:1 The leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem. The rest of the people drew lots to bring one out of every ten to live in Jerusalem, the holy city. The remaining nine-tenths were supposed to live in the other cities. • Nehemiah 11:2 The people blessed everyone who willingly offered to live in Jerusalem.

  28. The Finished Product. • Damascus Gate (Bab El-Amoud)This is the largest, most elaborate and most heavily defended of the Old City's seven open gates. It is also the only one to have been excavated. • Herods Gate (Bab Assahera)A small gate at the North of the Old City leading to Muslim Quarter. • Jaffa Gate (Bab El-Khalil)Jaffa Gate is the main western entrance to the Old City. Bab El-Khalil is very much a tourist gate. The shops around the gate are purely for tourists. On the right just inside the gate, is one of the city's best known sites, The Citadel (Tower of David). • Zion Gate (Bab Ennabi Daoud) This gate connects the Armenian Quarter with Mount Zion, which lies outside the walls and serves as a border between it and the Jewish Quarter. • Dung Gate (Bab El-Magharbeh)It is the only city gate that leads to the Jewish Quarter as well as Al-Haram El-Sharif (Al-Aqsa Mosque). On the right just inside the gate, the Ophel Archaeological Gardens capture the whole of Jerusalem's turbulent history in a confined area. • New Gate (Al-Bab El-Jadid)Al-Bab El-Jadid lies at the northwest corner of the Old City. It was constructed to create access between the Christian Quarter within the city walls and the new Christian properties outside them. • Lions Gate (St. Stephen's Gate)This marks the beginning of the Via Dolorosa and is on the eastern side of the Old City. • Golden Gate (Bab Arrahmeh)This gate has been sealed since the 1600's and legend has it that the Messiah will pass through it.

  29. The Finished Product Ezekiel 44:1-3 Then he brought me back the way of the gate of the outward sanctuary which looketh toward the east; and it was shut. Then said the Lord unto me; This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter in by it; because the Lord, the God of Israel, hath entered in by it, therefore it shall be shut. It is for the prince; the prince!
