  5. 1 Status of the Programmes • The CeMBA & CeMPA are fully accredited programmes by MQA. • Whereas MEd, MPhil, PhD, PGDBA & PGDE are provisionally accredited by MQA. ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2013—PG,IP,KL,JB,KC

  6. 2 Programme Structure ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2013—PG,IP,KL,JB,KC

  7. Minimum duration – 3 (for PGDE & PGDBA) and 5 (for MBA) semesters (with students taking a maximum of three courses per semester). Meanwhile, 4 semesters for MEd. The duration for MPhil & PhD are as follows: Minimum CGPA 2.0 (for PGDE) and 3.0 (for Masters & PGDBA) to satisfy requirements for graduation.   13. 4 Elective Courses For CeMBA & CeMPA you are required to choose 3 out of 6 elective courses. Whereas MBACM & MBAMPM you are required to choose 2 out of 4 elective courses. ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2013—PG,IP,KL,JB,KC

  18. 7 Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs) TMAs may comprise: • Case Study analysis • Application exercises (for PGDE programme) • Scenario analysis • Organisational diagnosis • Field work, data collection and analysis ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2013—PG,IP,KL,JB,KC

  19. 8 Final Examination CeMBA, CeMPA, MBACM, MBAMPM & PGDBA • Three hour, proctored, close book examination • Covers all the units of the course • Would have a minimum of 2 sections • Comprises case study, application problems or situation analysis • Questions are essay type, testing you on the concepts learnt and their applications to the world of business and management (Please refer to individual course study guide) Continued… ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2013—PG,IP,KL,JB,KC

  20. 8 Final Examination Post-Graduate Diploma in Education • Three hour, proctored, close book examination • Covers all the units of the course • Will have 3 sections • Section A with a weightage of 30% is compulsory: short answer application problems • Section B with a weightage of 30%, will comprise up to 3 structured answer questions. • Section C with a weightage of 40% answering 2 out of three essay type questionstesting on the concepts learnt and their applications to the real world.   21. 9 Project Course Objective of the Project Course The main objective of the Project Course is to help you to a. develop and demonstrate your ability to apply multidisciplinary or inter-disciplinary concepts, tools and techniques which you have acquired through all the courses you have taken (including your own work experiences) b. to solve or resolve an interesting or significant organisational and managerial problem or issue. c. enhance your ‘soft’ skills such as analytical, logical and communication skills and creativity Continued… ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2013—PG,IP,KL,JB,KC

  22. 9 Project Course • The Project Course is a capstone course of the CEMBA / CEMPA / MBACM & MBAMPM programmes. • It is essentially an independent study to be undertaken by you on an organisational or management issue. • As the Project Course carries 6 credits, a workload of 240 hours is expected to be undertaken by you for this course. • Once you have registered for the Project Course, you are required to send a Project Proposal and you can only begin work on the project when approval of the proposal is received from the University.   23. 9 Project Course • To ensure that you receive adequate training to handle the preparation of the Project Proposal, conduct the study and write the Project Report successfully, the University has allocated considerable time in the Residential School cum Project Workshop (RSPW) for this project course activity • Students taking the Project Course are strongly encouraged to attend the RSPW, prior to enrolling for the Project Course • A suitable Project Supervisor would be assigned to supervise your chosen topic of research and you are expected to work closely with your Project Supervisor during the period in your preparation of the Project Report ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2013—PG,IP,KL,JB,KC

  24. 10 Residential School cum Project Workshop (RSPW) • Those of you who wish to take up the Project Course are strongly advised to attend the RSPW prior to taking up the Project Course. • The RSPW is planned to be held once during each semester. • Detailed sessions on the preparation of the Project Proposal, on practical issues of conducting research relevant to the Project Course, and on the preparation of the Project Report will be conducted during the event. You Are Expected To … • Apply the concepts learnt in the programme in the context of your own organization ,to enable you to question, analyze and compare business and public sector practices. • Share your own experiences with your peers and tutors and contribute to the discussions at the tutorials. • Participate in all learner support activities as best as possible.
