  2. Zeus • Supreme God, Ruler of Mankind • Son of Cronus and Rhea • Married to Hera though had many affairs • Was father of too many children to name • Controlled the weather, was sunny when happy, thundering when upset • Symbol was lightning bolt from Cyclops

Athena • Goddess of Wisdom • Daughter of Zeus and Metis, has no children and is not married. • Is really good at handicrafts and strategy • The Parthenon was dedicated to her • She was born out of Zeus’s head • She taught skills like weaving and sewing to the women and agriculture and metallurgy to the men • Her sacred animal was the owl

Aphrodite • Goddess of love, beauty, and eternal youth • No father or mother, she was created from the foam of crystal waters • Children: Eros, Deimos, Phobos, Harmonia, Hemeros , Eryx, and Aenas • Was connected to death/rebirth pf nature and human beings • Her symbols were the seashell, mirror, and the girdle. • Even though she was married to Hephaestus, she had a secret love affair with Ares

Poseidon • God of seas, the horses, and the earthquakes • Son of Cronus and Rhea • Brother of Zeus • Could make earthquakes, drown lands, shatter rocks, and return peacefulness • His weapon was the trident • Symbols were the trident, dolphin, and the horse • According to tradition, Poseidon was the one who created the horse
