  2. MD or MS after MBBS After MBBS, most of the individuals keen on going for higher education often remain confused as to which one to choose MD or MS. Read the following slides to know more about MD and MS.

  3. Difference between MD and MS MD refers to the postgraduate degree in general medicine while MS refers to postgraduate degree in general surgery. MD is basically non-surgical, but there are some branches where surgery can be part of MD while MS requires more of surgical expertise and skills.

  4. Scope of MD and MS The scopes of MD and MS are usually the same. After completing MS, one can become a surgeon while the one who takes up MD can become a physician. It is important to note that a physician cannot become a surgeon, but a surgeon can work in place of a physician. Both the careers of MS and MDs are quite rewarding and they can get into either of the following:

  5. Can an individual study both MD and MS? A person can do MS after MD but in reality no one actually does this as they are different approaches. Moreover, one requires a lot of time to gain relevant experience in each field. It takes 3 years to complete MD and MS. The choice between MD and MS should be made sensibly by a student as per his or her aptitude.

  6. Exams to prepare for after MBBS Candidates can appear for NEET PG or the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Medical Postgraduate Courses after completing MBBS. This is the single entrance examination meant to screen students for various MS / MD and PG Diploma Courses.
