  3. The People We Serve • Mental Illness • Mental Retardation • Vocational or Economical disadvantages • Physical Disabilities • Traumatic Brain Injuries • 867 People served in 2008.

  4. Supported Employment Program • Offered in Polk, Warren, Hardin, Marshall and Poweshiek counties. • Job development, placement and follow-up services for participants who desire work in the community. • Job seeking skills classes and bus training. • Job adjustment with an on-site Job Coach employed by Goodwill.

  5. Model: Evidence Based Practices and Best Practices. Combining elements from the Evidence Based and Best Practices best fits Goodwill’s mission, vision and values

  6. Key Features of Model: Competitive employment is the goal. All jobs pay at least minimum wage and pay commensurate with similar jobs in the community.

  7. Benefits Counseling • Benefits will be discussed at intake and accurate information will be established to help clients and their families make informed choices about working, SSA benefits and how to use work incentives on their journey to self sufficiency.

  8. Choice: • All clients are presented with a variety of experiences, options and supports to achieve their career goals. Goodwill offers a variety of options for individuals looking for their first job or to gain needed skills for a better job.

  9. Short term training: • Retail Training • Manufacturing Training • Banking Training • Food Service training • Janitorial Training

  10. Rapid job Search • Job search begins soon after acceptance into then program.

  11. Control • Individuals are able to freely act upon their choices and decisions without fear of reprisal and are allowed to experience the natural consequences of their decisions.

  12. Time unlimited support: • Supports to maintain employment are provided for as long as the client wants the assistance.

  13. Projects with Industries (PWI) Grant • United States Department of Education Five Year Federal Grant • Eligibility Includes: Persons with a disability, work limitation or medical condition ages 16-24 (at acceptance) living in Polk County • Target Population: Transitioning youth who are interested in obtaining a job/career
