  21. Competitive Comparison & Analysis • Key Comparison * MSRP: Manufacture Suggested Retail Price

  22. Competitive Comparison & Analysis * MSRP: Manufacture Suggested Retail Price

  23. Competitive Comparison & Analysis • Art of War • Myth: • Cisco SGE2000/2010 Series support IPv6 Tunneling feature which is not supported by DGS-3120. • Truth: • IPv6 Tunneling is useless for SMB/Enterprise edge. L3 device will handle it. • Counterplot: • DGS-3120 provides more complete end-point security than SGE2000/2010 do. • SGE2000/2010 do not support Voice VLAN which is a must for VoIP solution. • No Green solution, lack of eco-friendly design.

  24. Competitive Comparison & Analysis • Myth: • NETGEAR GSM7224v2/7248v2 provide less cost and quite similar security features compared to D-Link’s DGS-3120. Why should I buy D-Link’s DGS-3120? • Truth: • No chance for NETGEAR to group several switches in a stack physically, that’s why cheap. • No Green solutions provided, that’s why cheap. • Counterplot: • Except physical stacking, DGS-3120 supports more security and AAA features than NETGEAR does • DGS-3120 support complete IPv6 features with EI image, protecting customer’s investment.

  25. Competitive Comparison & Analysis • Myth: • 3Com’s 4200G has two 10G open slots which are not provided by DGS-3120. Should I propose DGS-3400 to customer? • Truth: • 10G uplink is not the main stream for SMB nowadays because of the high cost. Most SMB/Enterprise customers use 1G to link with others. The TCO should be considered, too. • Physical stacking is not available on 3Com 4200G. Not a good core switching solution for SMB customers. • Counterplot: • Although 4200G supports 2 10G open slots for uplink. It can be replaced by DGS-3120’s 8-port trunking which satisfies customer’s needs and also very cost effective. • DGS-3120 supports IPv6 multicast solution, the MLD Snooping, which is not supported by 4200G.

  26. Competitive Comparison & Analysis • Myth: • Cisco provides lots of proprietary features and leverage Cisco’s good product image to customers. What’s our tactic to engage with Cisco? • Truth: • The specification for DGS-2960S is not as good as we thought. • 8K MAC address, 255 VLAN groups, 250 IGMP/MLD Snooping groups; all of them are less than DGS-3120. • High availability solution is not as complete as DGS-3120 • DGS-3120 provides the latest technology, ERPS, to improve network availability • Counterplot: • DGS-3120 provides high port density and high stacking performance to customers. • Inter-VLAN routing enables the capability to route traffic crossing VLANs without buying a L3 router.
