Mass and Inertia on Balance Team Members: Yousef Awwad, Jeff Beyer, Ravi Kappiyoor Graduate Student Assistant: Kerry Costello Advisor: Dr. Michael Madigan The goal of this project is to design a system to manipulate the effects of gravity during an ankle strategy lean test for the purpose of independently analyzing the effects of mass and inertia on balance. Key Features Project Scope: By developing a way to measure the effects of mass and inertia independently on balance, we hope to better understand the mechanics of falls for application towards fall prevention in the obese. Project Deliverables: • Schematic diagrams of all design considerations • Matlab Model of inverse pendulum system • Functional testing apparatus • Testing procedure and results Team Photo Here
