  2. Niccol was born in Paraparaumu, New Zealand on 10th of June 1964. He grew up in Auckland, where he attended Auckland Grammar School. He left New Zealand at age 21. Biography

  3. New Zealand born screenwriter director Andrew Niccol began his career in London, successfully directing TV commercials before moving to Los Angeles in order to make films. He became very successful quickly from directing the ‘Truman show’. How it happened

  5. The plot of his films often revolve around artificial reality, such as gene manipulation in Gattaca (1997) he uses fantasy-science fiction. • Andrew Niccol is also currently filming a movie called ‘the host’ which is being filmed in the USA. 5

  6. Unfortunately Andrew Niccol doesn’t have much of a contribution to New Zealand society as most of his films are based in America. He seems to be more of a Hollywood director as there is no impact on us. His style is different but he is still such a clever director. “Malibu and Manhattan are the only places I want to live," Niccol, regularly travels back to New Zealand to visit family and friends.
