  4. LIFE Charles Dickens wasan English writer. He wasborn in Portsmouth 7th February 1812. When he was 11 yearsold he worked in a factory. In 1836 hemarried Catherine Hogarth. He had ten childrenbut in 1858 heseparated. He alsoworkedas a journalist and reporter. For hisnovels he adopted the «penname», Boz. He publishedtwoimportantseriallynovels«The PickwickPapers», and «Skatches by Boz» in 1836. Healsopublishedtwoimportantsentimentalnovels: «David Copperfield» (1849) and «Christmas Carol» (1843) and threeimportant

  7. Christmas Carol In Christmas Carol Ebenezer Scrooge was a miserly old man who believed that Christmas was just an excuse for people to miss work and for idle people to expect handouts. During the Christmas Eve, he rejected a Christmas dinner invitation from his jolly nephew Fred and he went to bed early. That night, Scrooge was visited by the ghost of his former business associate, Jacob Marley. Marley warned Scrooge that if he continued to live so selfishly, he will be very unhappy. He also was visited by three spirits that showed him his past, his present and his future. Finally he understood the meaning of Christmas.
