  2. The day began at 10 am with an International Leadership Conference introducing the “Life and Works” of Dr. Sun Myung Moon, including his newly published autobiography (inset).

  3. Rev. Michael Jenkins of the American Clergy Leadership Conference shared a brief overview of the Original Divine Principle, Father Moon’s teachings on God and the purpose of life.

  4. Taj Hamad, Secretary General of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), outlines major programs at the United Nations and around the world, including the Legacy of Peace (on screen)

  6. Meanwhile, a huge crowd starts to line up along 34th Street for the main program, braving one of the hottest days of the year, with temperatures reaching nearly 100o F (38o C) in high humidity.

  7. Dr. Thomas Walsh, President of the Universal Peace Federation, acts as Master of Ceremonies.

  8. The Lovin’ Life Ministries Band warms up the crowd with a spirited selection.

  9. An audience of several thousand enjoys the performance of the band.

  10. Bishop Jesse Edwards, Senior Pastor of Gates of Praise Ministries in Philadelphia and Co-President of the American Clergy Leadership Conference, invites all to honor God in prayer.

  11. Rev. In Jin Moon, President of the Unification Church of America, welcomes the audience to the Manhattan Center, where she is also the national pastor of the popular Lovin’ Life Ministries.

  12. Dr. Neil Salonen, President of the University of Bridgeport, recounts Father Moon’s love for America and his untiring concern that the USA understand and fulfill God’s purpose.

  13. Archbishop George Augustus Stallings of the American Clergy Leadership Conference shares a personal testimony. “Father and Mother Moon have transformed my life,” he said.

  14. Dr. Hyung Jin Moon, International Chair of the Universal Peace Federation, gives a brief explanation of the purposes of the Assembly.

  15. Dr. Hyung Jin Moon introduces his parents, Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Mrs. Hak Ja Han Moon, and welcomes them to the stage.

  16. In his keynote address Father Moon said that at long last humanity will live in the direct dominion of God’s eternal love, and challenged all to work with him for a world of peace.

  17. The historic Hammerstein Ballroom of the Manhattan Center, as well as the Grand Ballroom and other overflow halls, are filled to capacity, and the event is web-cast worldwide.

  18. Members of the clergy and other faith leaders follow along with the English text of Father Moon’s speech, which was delivered in his mother tongue of Korean.

  19. A warm ovation in response to Father Moon’s message calling for a new era of peace based on interreligious cooperation, international marriages, and living for the sake of others.

  20. Father and Mother Moon affixing their signatures to the ‘Proclamation of the Substantial Word,’ which was earlier signed by all participants.

  21. Religious leaders came from throughout the United States and as far away as Europe, Korea and Japan. Father. Moon asked them all to join him in working for interreligious peace.
