  1. Gang violence Aim: What is Gang Violence

  2. Gang Violence is violence amongst groups of people known as gangs. It happens a lot in cities or highly populated areas. Also, people try to uphold certain levels of respect and demand it from other groups of people. Most gang violence happens amongst teens in the community.

  3. Facts • Male gangs are the most violent ones. • The females are more likely to get in fights with other women and fight for any reason. • The males are more likely to fight and get to the point of using guns, knifes and other objects to defend themselves and their group members. • Gangs are not only entertained by violence but writing Graffiti as well. Communities now have dealt with graffiti in their streets; do to the fact that graffiti is a way for gangs to express their thoughts • Many of the graffiti can also represent threats, announcements, or simply, a ways to communicate. Sometimes the gangs want to send special messages trough graffiti. Many of those are directed to police officers or other gangs.

  4. Causes • Some causes of gang violence are due to the fact that people want respect or they want people to fear them. Many others are in gangs because they feel as though it’s a family, a feeling of belonging. Some of the oldest gangs are Bloods, Crips, and Latin Kings to name a few. • In order for a female to join a gang she either has to sleep with all the men of that gang or rob and kill someone ( any person)

  5. Effects • Many people die because of shootouts, fights and many of them are not the intended target even babies as young as the ages 1-7 are killed in cross fires. • Families loose relatives; children, mothers, fathers, husbands etc. • Members of gangs end up dead or in jail

  7. Prevention • Keep children in different activities during the summer and after school. • Help out in your community to keep others children off the street
