  3. In 1946 the British population was at its healthiest. • WHY? • Rationing = Less fat Less Sugar More fibre Compare this with today’s nutritional guidelines - Less fat, less sugar, less salt & more fibre.

  4. Increased fibre through a vegetable rich diet.

  5. ‘Carrots keep you healthy and help you see in the blackout’ • Carrots are rich in beta-carotene – an important sauce of vitamin A, which really does help us to see in the dark. (visual purple)

  6. Now choose 2 wartime recipes that you would like to cook. • Use the wartime cook books that I have provided. • Your recipes must adhere to WW2 food rationing. • Give 3 reasons why you have chosen your particular recipes.
