Today, we are going to memorize the addition facts for 10. We are going to memorize the addition facts for 10. Memorize means to practice over and over until you remember. JenTony Jen and Tony put their marbles together so they could play a game. Together, they had 4 marbles in all. CFU Students, just like Jen and Tony, you already know how to put things or objects together. Just like putting objects together, you can put numbers together too. Putting numbers together is called adding. Today, we will memorize the addition facts for 10. 1st Grade Number Sense 2.1 Know the addition facts (sums to 20) and the corresponding subtraction facts and commit them to memory. Lessons are to be used by EDI-trained teachers only.

Concept Development • To add means to put together to find a sum. • A sum is the total amount when you add numbers together. • The + sign tells us to add the numbers. • The = sign stands for equals. • Example: 7 + 2 = 9 Seven stars added to two stars equals a sum of 9 stars.
