  2. The Line of Sight in and around West Point is not ideal for VHF/Tactical radios • Repeaters have been installed on two points in order to relay voice throughout the training AO (COTS) • Teams will be issued two radios for emergency use

SS OPS Important Buttons to Know System/Group Select Antenna Power On/Off & Volume Emergency Button System/Group Select TX / RX Indicator Power On/Off & Volume Universal Device Connector “UDC” (On Side) Option Button 1 Clear Button Display Antenna (PTT) Push-to-Talk Keypad TX / RX Indicator Emergency Button Battery (on Back) Speaker

  4. SS OPS Radio Operation 2 1 • Turn on the radio. • Select the group you want to reach. • Group names appear on Line 2 of the display. • Push-to-Talk (PTT). • Indicator will light red while transmitting 5 4 3

  5. G 12345 OPS Call Receive 4 • The caller’s Radio ID or alias appears on Line 1 (ex. 12345). • Group that is transmitting appears on Line 2. • Indicator will light green while receiving. • PTT to respond. 3 1 2 5

  6. LOCKED OPS Locking/Unlocking the Keypad When Radio is locked, all keys except PTT, Emergency, and M are locked. Knobs function normally. To Unlock: 1. Press M 2. Press Right/Down Button 2 1

  7. SS PMO Changing Groups 1 • Turn the ‘GROUP SELECT’ knob to select a group. • Group names appear on Line 2 of the display. 2

  8. Changing the Battery • Before changing the battery, turn the radio off. • Press the battery release button on the bottom of the battery. • Lift the bottom of the battery pack up and away until it separates from the radio. • Insert the top of the new battery pack onto the radio then push down the bottom of the battery pack until it clicks. 1 3 4 4 2

  10. Reports (Safety) In the event of emergency at any time during the competition, competitors will use the following reports to call up to the Sandhurst TOC: 9 Line MEDEVAC: Medical Emergencies 9 Line UXO: Unexploded Ordinance
