  1. Planet Travel Guide By, Gabe Galicia

  2. Mercury • Colaris Basin a huge crater when an asteroid hit Mercury. • Has the biggest Spider looking crater • Surface similar to earths moon • It got bombarded by a huge comet 4 billion years ago • Can reach 800 degrees on the sunny side • A single day on Mercury is 176 earth days • Sent nasa mariner space probe 10 in 1974

  3. Venus • At some point in the past it had an ocean like earth • Now its covered by thick clouds of sulfur and carbon dioxide • Hottest planet in the solar system • Too much atmospheric pressure that it would crush you to death • Ishtar Terra a mountain range on Venus • Venera Space probe in 1974

  4. Mars • Three billion years ago it had plenty of water to sustain life • Mars has low gravity which means an average human being can jump 9 feet in the air • Valles Marineris a huge canyon that is the whole width of the United States and is 7 miles deep in places • The Olympus Mons volcano towering at 90,000 feet and being the biggest volcano in the solar system • Has polar regions • Sent the Pathfinder

  5. Jupiter • Is the largest planet in the solar system • Has the four largest satellites • Galileo discovered the four large satellites and knew that Earth wasn’t the center of the solar system • An underground ocean lies beneath Jupiter's moon Europa • “The great red spot” a storm that has been there over 300 years • A single day on Jupiter is 10 hours the shortest day in the solar system • Sent the Galileo space probe

  6. Saturn • Is the only planet that has visible rings around it • This big gas giant can reach temperatures to -245 degrees • The hexagon shaped storm on the north pole of Saturn • We sent the Cassini-Huygens space probe • The surface on Saturn would kill a human being

  7. Uranus • A big gas giant planet • Has a tilt than no other planet in the solar system • Voyager 2 was sent to Uranus to orbit around it • Has 13 rings made up of dusty and rocky pieces of broken up satellites • The temperature on Uranus is -355 degrees and the interior ocean of the planet rises 4,200 degrees • Has 27 different satellites

  8. Neptune • Adams and Le Verrier are credited of discovering Neptune • Neptune has temperature -392 degrees • Neptune is home to the fastest winds in the solar system with speeds up to 1200 mph • Takes 165 earth years for Neptune to orbit the sun • The 1977 Voyager was sent to Neptune

  9. Pluto • Pluto is located on the Kupier belt of the solar system • Sent the New horizon to Pluto the most powerful rocket on Earth • The Oort cloud is a huge sphere far beyond Pluto • It takes 248 Earth years for Pluto to orbit the sun • The temperature on Pluto is -370 degrees • Pluto was discovered by Clyde Tombaugh who died and his ashes are on board the sprit so he can see Pluto himself
