Accomplishments – Status of Work • Services Requirements Document (v2) new draft available for review • Reworked to enable greater elaboration about service outcomes in key thematic areas • Explicit mapping to the geographic areas: Arctic, Antarctic, Third Pole • Context/opportunity for input from research and observations teams on strategies to meet service needs • Several international, intergovernmental reports, (e.g., AMSA, Arctic Report Card) provide context and drivers for service improvements • “National Strategies” outline priorities around stewardship of the Arctic Region, responsible resource development, and international collaboration. • Calls for specific improvements in weather and sea ice forecasts, sea ice research, observations, and stronger foundational science. • GIPPS is a likely cross-cutting solution for these National Strategies in the years ahead.

  3. Future Actions and Considerations • Service requirements paper is coming along • Refine paper, complete service needs sections • Need inputs from Antarctic and information from observations and research task teams • Ensure alignment with WMO Service Strategy Implementation Plan • Outstanding tasks from EC PORS 4 • Outreach to indigenous groups (i.e., the ICC) • Outreach to policy makers, e.g., Arctic Council, ATCM  • Liaise with the Antarctic task team and consider a subgroup for the Third Pole (also liaise with RAII)
