  • The principle of DOPPLER effect is well known in the study of sound

  • Doppler is the introducer of DOPPLER effect and hence the name

  • The principle of speed camera is the DOPPLER effect and radar technologies

  • Aerials of radar is placed parallel to the road not across them

How does radar detect speed of vehicles

HOW DOES RADAR DETECT SPEED OF VEHICLES?

  • It uses electromagnetic or radio waves to detect speed

  • It sends radio wave and listen for their return

  • Dividing the time took the waves to return and forth by the distance is calculated

  • Using DOPPLER principle speed is calculated
