Arvind Kejriwal Visit • Excellent talk on RTI and its impact • The GOOD • Participation from FOIN • Audience of around 50 ppl for the talk • Meeting arranged for AID volunteers with Arvind Kejriwal was very productive • The BAD • Attendance could have been much more • Funding could have been planned better • Video recording not done

  4. 2. SWAAD – a taste of India • Indian food festival with Indian Marriage as theme • Mehendi and Handicrafts stall • Tickets • Prices raised from 10/12 to 12/15 • 750 Tickets Sold

  5. 2. SWAAD – A taste of India • Sponsorship 1300$, • 500 from Citibank • 500 from MCS • 330 from Student activities • Total Money raised - 9253.61

  6. 2. SWAAD - The good • Number of tickets, price of tickets raised • No CSH spent on Swaad. Most decisions made by coords • Early call for coords resulted in a good turnout • Most work done after 5.00, Volunteer turnout incredible • Several volunteers already assigned for serving making that easier than last time • Split into two sections making queues smaller • Brought our own knifes and peelers

SWAAD – The bad • Problems in MSC kitchen availability • A lot of food was served cold • Required vegetables were not stocked (Finally bought from HEB which was expensive) • Initial ticket sale very poor. Resulted in decrease in number of tickets sold • Inventory calculations pretty bad • Lot of food wasted. • Poor attendance for volunteers party 

  8. 3. Foot Ball Games • 2 Hawking stand in the football games • Volunteered for 9 games this year • All games on weekends / holidays but still volunteer turnout not as good as expected • Poor attendance to volunteer party • Total money raised - 2984.80

  9. 4. Anand Mela + AID GBM • Required very little effort and money to organize • Could have publicized earlier • Could have converted it into a fundraising event by charging an entrance fee 

  10. 1. NELE • Shelter for Orphans, Street children and Poor kids based in Bangalore • Right now they have 100 children • We funded 2270$ that would take care of all expenses for 10 kids for a year

  11. 2. RTI Janpath / MAGP • Already run an RTI helpline which had around 10000 calls last year • Funded $2900 for Projector and Laptop unit that will be used with a mobile van to spread RTI awareness and submit RTI applications

  12. 3. Malaria Control Program • Based in Purulia district Bengal –Jharkhand state border area • Approved 4250$ that includes • Construction costs of a lab where blood tests for malaria can be performed • Microscope • 6 months salary for community helpers and a lab technician • Fuel costs of a health van • Awareness campaign

  15. Growth from last year • Last year we raised 11,491.59 • Included 1500$ donation from IA • 1000$ International student organization grant specific to that year • This year 12738.41 without these special grants

How can you help ? • Become an active AID volunteer • Help us in organizing fund raising events • Help us with projects review • Make our efforts easier by, • Participating in the Penny drive • Buying Swaad tickets / other fundraising tickets early • Help by donating handicrafts • Help with decoration related materials • Volunteer for at least one football game
