What does Project ICARUS do? • Provides guidance to those wishing to act, and influence over those who feel they don't need to act!!! • Key components: • Provide a forum for sharing and driving global best practice, policies, tools and innovation in sustainability • Inform, educate, and advise about the importance of the social, environment and economic aspects of sustainability • Continually develop the definitive source of toolkits, information, network and events • Recognize global/regional organizations and individuals who excel in this field via buyer & supplier medals and awards

Recognition and Awards • Created to recognize professionals who are committed to making sustainability a core function within their organization and are leading the way by actions to deliver best in class sustainability programs • Why? • To encourage commitment and continued development of sustainability programs on a personal level • To support sustainability at a corporate level by developing and implementing industry best practice • To recognise people and organisations that are demonstrating success and delivering best in class and outstanding travel programs

Gold Medal Program - Buyers and Suppliers • 2 levels: • Commitment: • Organizations can make a public statement of commitment to start to implement a sustainable business travel and meetings program and to move towards gaining a Project ICARUS Gold Medal • Gold Medal: • Given on provision of evidence of industry leadership and actions, as well as commitment to stakeholders • Assessment Criteria • Regional and global submissions are undertaken through a set application format and each entry will need to be supported by evidence to support each claim

Annual Outstanding Achievement Awards • The Project ICARUS Global Advisory Board will recognize travel buyers and suppliers who can provide evidence of: • best in class delivery of the key principles of sustainability in travel and meetings programs • and/or • outstanding contribution to furthering the goals of sustainability in travel and meetings programs • ‘Outstanding Achievement Awards’ will be made annually on a regional basis to recognise leading travel buyers who have made a special contribution during the year • In addition: there will be ‘Global ‘Outstanding Achievement Awards’ announced at the GBTA Annual Convention
