  1. Project Lead the WayAn Orientation American High School

  2. High School Program Pathways to Engineering - The High School Engineering Program is a four-year sequence of courses which, when combined with traditional mathematics and science courses in high school, introduces students to the scope, rigor and discipline of engineering prior to entering college.

  3. Pathway to Engineering1st Tier (Freshmen Year) & 2nd Tier (Sophomore Year) Principles of Engineering - A course that helps students understand the field of engineering/engineering technology. Exploring various technology systems and manufacturing processes help students learn how engineers and technicians use math, science and technology in an engineering problem solving process to benefit people. The course also includes concerns about social and political consequences of technological change. Introduction to Design - A course that teaches problem-solving skills using a design development process. Models of product solutions are created, analyzed and communicated using solid modeling computer design software.

  4. Pathway to Engineering3rd Tier (Junior Year) Digital Electronics - A course in applied logic that encompasses the application of electronic circuits and devices. Computer simulation software is used to design and test digital circuitry prior to the actual construction of circuits and devices. Computer Science & Software Engineering- The curriculum encompasses Graphics - fundamental computer science concepts like iteration, objects, classes, events, and code efficiency; the Web - introducing code writing, networking concepts, privacy, and security; Data Mining - introducing concepts in discrete mathematics, probability and association, and data visualization; and Simulation - further developing concepts in discrete mathematics, and introduce chaos and fractals, computability, and artificial intelligence. This course is not a programming language course; it aims instead to develop computational thinking, to generate excitement about the field of computing, and to introduce computational tools that foster creativity. Students will be working with Android devices or an Android emulator. OR

  5. Pathway to Engineering4th Tier (Senior Year) Civil Engineering and Architecture - CAPSTONE PROJECT @ MVROPThis course provides an overview of the fields of Civil Engineering and Architecture, while emphasizing the interrelationship and dependence of both fields on each other. Students use state of the art software to solve real world problems and communicate solutions to hands-on projects and activities. This course covers topics such as: Project Planning, Site Planning, Building Design, Project Documentation and Presentation • AP Computer Science (NOT PLTW) • Prerequisite: Algebra II/Trigonometry with a B or better and be enrolled in Pre-Calculus or taken/passed Pre-Calculus. • AP Computer Science A course emphasizes object oriented programming, algorithm development, and problem solving. The Java programming language will be used to write programs. Students are expected to work at least 2-3 hrs. per week outside of class hours on their computers. They will have access to school PCs. Students can also run and debug their programs on their personal computers. The computers must be able to compile and run Java code. OR
