Create an action plan to get started toward your health career goal. • AHS 2300: Orientation to Clinical Research Discover the field of clinical research. Learn about ethical conduct, professionalism, and clinical research methods. Put together a proposal for the UROP program. • AHS 2707 – Global Health Challenges for Future Health Professionals Learn about challenges you will face as a future health professional. Hear from health professionals involved in both cutting edge research and innovative programs.

Credit Courses (medical doctor) • AHS 1600: The Future Physician I: Medicine in the 21st Century Learn about the multi-disciplinary field of medicine and the challenges shaping the work of health professionals in the healthcare field. • AHS 1601: The Future Physician II: The Life and Work of a Physician Explore the field of medicine by interacting with guest speakers from the university of Minnesota Medical School and the community. Think critically about the challenges and opportunities of a medical career. • AHS 1602: The Future Physician III: Experiences in Medicine Customized volunteer experience in a setting that employs physicians and serves patients.

12. School of DentistryDentistry (D.D.S.) What is dentistry? Detection of disease, diagnosis, aesthetic improvement, surgical restoration, and public education. Creative individuals who are artists as well as scientists. Physical therapists evaluate, diagnose and manage movement impairment and enhance physical and functional performance in all age populations. What is occupational therapy? • Occupational therapists help people who have physical, mental, or developmental injuries, or illnesses • They focus on the skills and abilities needed for independent and satisfying lives • Services include improving abilities to carry out the activities of daily living, evaluation and adaptation of home and job environment, training in the use of adaptive equipment, educating family members and caregivers Class Snapshot: Class size: 25 (Twin Cities), 20 (Rochester) The curriculum uses both distance technologies and on-site classes Avg.
