  1. ANSPs interested • MUAC • IAA - Ireland • NATS -UK • Avinor - Norway • AENA - Spain • NAV Portugal • (DSNA - France) • (Romatsa- Romania) OFG Status Report

  2. Main drivers • Series of meetings/webcons NATS on FANS Accommodation • Led by NATS • Voice Read-Back MUST disappear • Used sofar as procedural mitigation • Commonality in CPDLC Operation • Commonality does not prevent ANSPs to support a slightly different set of CPDLC messages • Commonality does not require the same mitigations • 3 issues, preventing full CPDLC provision to FANS AC OFG Status Report

  3. Issue 1: Mis-direction • Proposed mitigation:All uplink messages have a Free-text message concatenated in front of the actual message (as in voice). Example 1 UM159“BAW 38” + UM20“CLIMB TO FL340” displayed in cockpit as: BAW38 CLIMB TO FL340 Example 2 UM159“BAW 38” + UM117“CONTACT EDYY Maastricht Center 132.785” displayed in cockpit as: BAW38 CONTACT EDYY Maastricht Center 132.785 OFG Status Report

  4. Issue 2: Latency Time Check (LTC) • Profile-changing message exchanges requires LTC in aircraft. • FANS+ AC use LTC function • Needs Flight Crew input • Differences Airbus / Boeing implementations • More time needed on use of LTC • Start with support of non-profile changing messages for FANS and FANS+ aircraft • Impact on HMI • Depending on acceptable LTC solution, extension to full CPDLC provision to FANS + aircraft • “FANS+ List” needed • Data collection started OFG Status Report

  5. Issue 3: FANS Performance • Very much dependent on transport medium • Which aircraft are POA or SATCOM and which are VDLM2? • Seems that POA does not meet ED-120/RCTP • more ground time-outs (120 seconds) for UMs than desirable OFG Status Report

  6. Summary • Involvement of many ANSPs with different HMI designs; • Looking for best solution that works for all; • Discussions are still ongoing. OFG Status Report
