Objectives for ra 2 mwr ccvt

Objectives for RA-2/MWR CCVT

  • Cross-calibrated data products

    • WRT ERS or other altimeters (T-P, GFO, Jason)

    • Ensure ESA data products consistency

  • Validated data products

    • geophysical validation of the data products content and the processing models

    • Authorizing distribution to all users

      • Within 6 months of launch


Cal val activities planned

Cal/Val Activities Planned

  • Absolute calibration of the RA-2 main geophysical parameters:

    • Range, Sigma0.

      (this is done in the RA-2 CT)

  • Cross-calibration against ERS (and/or TP, GFO, Jason) of the RA-2 main geophysical parameters:

    • Range, Significant Wave Height and Wind Speed (Sigma0).

  • Calibration of MWR against radiosonde measurements of water vapour and model.

  • Cross-calibration against ERS (and/or other radiometers) of MWR brightness temperatures and water vapour.

  • All RA-2/MWR products validation

    • Validation against models, buoys, tide gauge data, climatology data

  • Preparation for long-term drifts detection for range, wave height, wind speed, water vapour.
