Birth, Marriage, and disease • George III was born on June 4, 1738 • He got a disease called porphyria which causes abdominal pain, paralysis on the arms and legs, and many more symptoms • He got that disease right after he married Charlotte Sophia of Mecklenburg-Strelitz in 1765 Queen Charlotte

  3. Family and Becoming king • Father: Fredrick, the Prince of Wales • Mother: Augusta of Saxe-Gotha. • He had a brother named Gloucester, • Grandfather was George II • Heir to the throne in 1751 when his father died • Became king in 1760 after his grandfather, King George II King George III

  4. During reign • He married his wife, Charlotte Sophia. • Experienced the French, American, and Industrial Revolutions. • The Industrial Revolution created a new society and more than doubled the British population. • Britain gained territories in, southern Africa, southern Asia, and Australia.
