600 Series Validation - Timeline • September 2017 – Publish new 600 series methods • January 2018 – Organizations formed a partnership and contacted EPA to extend offer of support • Spring 2018 – Survey to determine interest • Fall 2018 - Met with APHL, TNI, WEF, EPA representatives • Winter 2018 - Drafted initial validation study plan • March 2019 - Meeting with team • March 2019 - Drafted version 2
600 Series Validation - Timeline • March 2019 – Version 2 is complete Goal: • The primary goal of this study is to collect Quality Control (QC) data for the priority pollutant analytes in Table 1 of Methods 608.3 and 624.1 and Tables 1 and 2 of Method 625.1, including • Method Detection Limit (MDL) from blanks and spikes • % Relative Standard deviation (RSD), % error, or % Relative Standard Error (RSE) for the initial calibration • % error for Continuing Calibration Verification • Results from the Initial Demonstration of Capability (DOC) study • Results from Method Blanks • Recoveries of Laboratory Control Samples (LCS), including Surrogates • Note: Some priority pollutant analytes in Table 2 of Method 608.3 (e.g., PCBs, chlordane) will also be included in this effort.

Survey • Identified 8 Major Areas of Interest w/ Examples • Asked participants to rank 1 – 5, with 1 being highest priority • Asked for potential volunteer leaders to champion discussions for the topics • Goal of discussions - to come up with specific steps that ACIL might be able to take to help the laboratories address the issue
