ENHEP Aims ENHEP had been established since 2008 to: • Promote scientific collaboration between researchers and Egyptian academic institutions • Train young scientists on theoretical assumptions, experimental particle physics, data analysis, etc… • Engage with CERN as one of the most challenging international collaborations 26/9/2013 CMS Management Meeting

ENHEP Goals • Establish experimental expertise for LHC accelerator/detector parts and high standard electronic equipment. • Develop simulation techniques of environmental and industrial impact. • Take a leading part in the expected revolution in particle physics. . 26/9/2013 CMS Management Meeting

  4. ENHEP Structure • The ENHEP consists of 15 institutes. Zewail City Phenomenology (2 physicist and 5 graduate students): • Prof. Shaaban Khalil and Dr. Adel Awad • Supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model • B-L extension of the Standard Model and Grand Unified Field Theory • CP and Flavor violation • Dark matter 26/9/2013 CMS Management Meeting

  10. Our Contribution in RPC • Chamber Assembly and Tests • Commissioning (RPC signal cable installation in Point 5 ) • Data Quality Monitoring • Research, Development and Simulations • Completion of the instrumentations needed for an RPC laboratory in Egypt. 26/9/2013 CMS Management Meeting

  11. Ain Shams University / BUE • Ph.D. candidate (3 months) • M.Sc. student (1.5 months) Testing the low- and high-voltage cables as well as testing the data cables • AmrRadi (3 months) Commissioning the low voltage cable in Near and Far end cab 26/9/2013 CMS Management Meeting

  12. The British University in Egypt 5 students (1.5 months) working on the followings: • Assembly and inspection of the RPCs • Instillation of the RPC low-voltage cables at Point 5 (CMS Detector Cavern of the LHC). 26/9/2013 CMS Management Meeting

  15. Our Contribution in GEM • Electronics Design and Tests • R&D and simulations Future Plan: • Completion of the instrumentations needed for a GEM laboratory in Egypt. 13/9/2013 GEM Coordination Meeting -7

Yasser Assran 1- Member of Validation Group • Produce GEM samples (muon gun, minimum bias ,....) • Validate GEM samples for different CMSSW releases • Work on implementing of GEM digi on fireworks 2- Member of Physics Group • Recently joined physics group and is responsible of GEM physics samples production • Production of samples • Physics studies with TeVmuons 13/9/2013 GEM Coordination Meeting -7
