  3. Target them Early & Long Term Target them Early & Long Term Once kids are gone from school,they don’t come back – so target Yrs 7-10 External programs rapidly slide to“Mountain Top Experiences” These kids often have long term problems, so short term interventions don’t last

  4. Work outside the square Target them Early & Long Term Work outside the square • Don’t just talk, Do! Give them a release valve 1 day per week Give them a place to belong in the school Give them high Tch:Std ratios (2:10) Give them strong relationships and an alternate peer group

  6. It’s all about the relationships... INCLUDING THE STAFF!! Supporting staff is fundamental to success Cluster approach builds mutual support networks Ongoing training and contact between clusters ensures sustainability
