  4. Responsibilities of a CFT Examiner – General Guidelines • When preparing for an exam an examiner will ensure personal • Fitness to dive • Log Book is in order • Diving equipment is in test • Knowledge of full requirements of the exam

  5. Responsibilities of a CFT Examiner – General Guidelines • When assessing a candidate an examiner will • Use the full range of marks/grades available • Mark down poor and dangerous performance • Reward good performance

  6. Responsibilities of a CFT Examiner – General Guidelines • When dealing with candidates an examiner will • Use authority with care, honesty and integrity • Assess a candidate’s performance on the day • Be sensitive to a candidate’s feelings

  7. Responsibilities of a CFT Examiner – General Guidelines • When dealing with candidates an examiner will also • Avoid argument with a candidate • Not re-test a candidate • Not test a candidate from own club, except for defined tests

  8. Responsibilities of a CFT Examiner – Specific Advice • Non-Jury Exam • Check log books carefully • Brief candidates thoroughly • Take time doing the buddy/equipment check • Do exercises in sequence agreed during brief

  9. Responsibilities of a CFT Examiner – Specific Advice • Non Jury Exam - cont. • Watch for signs of nervousness • Oral exam - no more than 10 minutes • Difficulty with a question move on • A pass rate of 60% on oral exam • Feedback - quickly and honestly

  10. Responsibilities of a CFT Examiner – Specific Advice • Jury Exam • You must record the grade/mark you award • In jury discussions listen to other examiners • Do not dominate the discussion

  12. Code of Behaviour • A CFT Examiner must… • Keep up to date with CTB • Assess candidates honestly and objectively • Respect the work of fellow examiners • Respect effort made by candidates • Respect the standards and CFT rules and regulations
