  2. Assess immediately!! Must know where you are before you can decide where you need to go!! How do you assess students’ ability to read the text and materials that you request? What resources are available? How do you assess reading throughout the year? _____________________________________ ANOTHER NOTE: EVERYONE IS A LITERACY TEACHER!!! Get STARTED…..Assess Right Now!!!

DO WHAT YOU’RE ALREADY DOING, BUT DON’T BE AFRAID TO Try Something New!

  4. Use vocabulary to achieve this. Interactive word wall that is easily seen, referred to frequently, and visited by students. Students add unknown words and make a collective decision to remove words once they have been mastered. ______________________________________ THERE SHOULD BE FREQUENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR REAL-LIFE READING AND WRITING!! Take Away a Valuable Idea AND MAKE A LASTING IMPRESSION!
