Cellular Backhaul via Satellite • Cellular Backhaul provided most of the growth in SCPC segment last years • Backhaul via TDMA networks is getting more and more popularity because of penetration to rural areas with low and unpredictable cellular traffic • Cellular Backhaul is the most capacity-hungry application, requiring 512-1024 kbps per site • Mobile providers require cost-effective backhaul solution to perform USO obligations, that is now part of new 3G/LTE licenses in many countries • African and Asian markets are the most perspective regions for Cellular Backhaul, because of actually low penetration COMSYS VSAT REPORT, 2012

Requirements • Small-to-medium size star-topology network with local Gateway • Support either for IP backhaul and for 2G E1 A-bis protocol • SCPC dedicated connectivity for developed sites with intensive traffic and TDMA backhaul for undeveloped sites and USO • Independent infrastructure with in-country Hub, that should be located within specific region • Cost-effective solution with inexpensive mini-Hub and flexible TDMA/SCPC terminals • Easy to install and operate hardware with remotely managed operations
