  1. “Remember who you are.”

  2. Immorality surrounds us. Remember who you are! • (1 Corinthians 5:9-11) • I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner--not even to eat with such a person. (NKJV)

  3. Remember who you are! • (2 Peter 1:12-13) • For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth. Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you, (NKJV)

  4. Remember who you are:created in God’s Image • (Genesis 1:26-27) Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. (NKJV)

  5. Remember who you are:created to seek the Lord! • (Acts 17:26-27) • "And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, "so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; (NKJV)

  6. Remember who you are:created to seek the Lord! • (Acts 17:30-31) • "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, "because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead." (NKJV)

  7. Remember who you are:created to seek the Lord! • (Deuteronomy 10:12) • "And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, (NKJV)

  8. Remember who you are:created to seek the Lord! • (Deuteronomy 4:29) • "But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. (NKJV)

  9. Remember who you are:created to seek the Lord! • (Ephesians 2:10) • For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (NKJV)

  10. Remember who you are: a Christian! • (Ecclesiastes 7:1a) A good name is better than precious ointment… • (Ac. 11:26b) …the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

  11. Remember who you are: dead to sin! • (1 Peter 4:1-2) • Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. (NKJV)

  12. Remember who you are: a disciple of Christ! • John 8:31 • “Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.’”

  13. The Need to Be Reminded • (1 Corinthians 4:17) • For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church. (NKJV)

  14. The Need to Be Reminded(2 Tim. 2) • (vs. 1-3) …be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me…commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. You…must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. • (vs. 2:5-6) …compete according to the rules…work hard • (vs. 2:11) if we die to the world we will also live with Him. • (vs. 2:12) If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. • (vs. 14) Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers.

  15. The Need to Be Reminded • (Jude 1:5) But I want to remind you, though you once knew this… • (Jude 1:3-4) Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ. (NKJV)

  16. The Need to Be Reminded - Forgetting Can Be Harmful! • (Isaiah 17:10-11) Because you have forgotten the God of your salvation, And have not been mindful of the Rock of your stronghold, Therefore you will plant pleasant plants And set out foreign seedlings; In the day you will make your plant to grow, And in the morning you will make your seed to flourish; But the harvest will be a heap of ruins In the day of grief and desperate sorrow. (NKJV)

  17. Remember that you must change the world without allowing it to change you! • Christians are not part of this world! • (John 15:19) • "If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. (NKJV)

  18. Remember that you must change the world without allowing it to change you! • Christians are not part of this world! • (2 Corinthians 6:14-16) • Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people."

  19. Remember that you must change the world without allowing it to change you! • Christians are not part of this world! • (2 Corinthians 7:1) • Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (NKJV)

  20. Remember that you must change the world without allowing it to change you! • Christians are not part of this world! • (Revelation 18:4) • And I heard another voice from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. (NKJV)

  21. Remember that you must change the world without allowing it to change you! • Christians are not part of this world! • (Romans 12:1-3) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. (NKJV)

  22. How to Remember Who We Are • Remember the Brevity of Life • (Psalms 119:109) • My life is continually in my hand, Yet I do not forget Your law. (NKJV)

  23. How to Remember Who We Are • Remember What You Are WITHOUT God! • (Psalms 119:141) • I am small and despised, Yet I do not forget Your precepts. (NKJV)

  24. How to Remember Who We Are • Making Obedience to God a Part of Your Regular Routine • (Deuteronomy 8:11) • "Beware that you do not forget the LORD your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today, (NKJV)

  25. How to Remember Who We Are • Making Obedience to God a Part of Your Regular Routine • (Deuteronomy 6:4-9) "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. "You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. "You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. "You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

  26. How to Remember Who We Are • Making Obedience to God a Part of Your Regular Routine • (Proverbs 3:1) • My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; (NKJV)
