  2. Old farmhouse built in the 1800s renovated into a daycare then into a hospice. • 7 patient rooms in the hospice, also care for patients outside the hospice at home • Three types of patients: • Those who are terminally ill • Management of uncontrolled symptoms (also terminally ill but longer prognosis) • Respite care

  3. Only academic hospice in Holland • 135 volunteers help in the hospice, divided between care, hospitality and gardening. • Nurses are employed by the government, but patients pay €40 a day for food, coaching and spiritual coaching. • Thereapies available include art therapy, music therapy and aromatherapy

  4. Four core values include domestic care, respect, knowledge and expertise • They accept all ages above childhood. At the moment they have patients between the ages of 20 and almost 100. Although most commonly people aged 70-80

  5. Our Thoughts and feelings • It was very like a home, there was no hospital smell and the staff didn’t wear uniforms, only name badges. • It was really nice how they have a candle that they light when someone in the house dies and leave it lighting until they leave the house. This helps there to not be a sad atmosphere all the time but also to allow respect for a grieving family.
